Sixteen Passengers Kidnapped by Gunmen in Benue State, Nigeria

Gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, kidnapped sixteen passengers along the Utonkon Ojapo Okpoga Road in the Ado Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident occurred last Monday around 7 p.m.

The victims were traveling from Oju to the southern part of the country for work when they were ambushed. The kidnappers stopped the vehicle, took 15 passengers into the bush, and shot one person dead when the driver resisted.

The whereabouts of the remaining passengers are currently unknown. Jackson Ominyi, the chairman of Oju, confirmed the incident and mentioned that two individuals were shot dead, while two others were rescued.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining 12 abducted individuals. The police in the state have not yet provided a reaction to the incident.
