Plateau State Security Operative Killed in Gunmen Attack

On September 21, 2026, gunmen attacked security operatives attached to Operation Rainbow in Plateau State, resulting in the death of one personnel during an ambush along Gagshi Road between Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas. In a separate incident at Rakok, also known as Kafi Abu, three civilians were killed while attending a funeral for victims of previous violence.

Dalyop Mwantiri, the National President of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, confirmed the ambush and expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation, noting that attacks are now occurring in broad daylight. A community source, Lawrence Gyang, reported that the civilians were killed while mourning two individuals who had been killed the day before.

The Plateau State Police Command's spokesman, Alabo Alfred, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incidents. In response to the escalating violence, the Plateau State Government imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Mangu LGAs, effective September 21, 2026.
