Gunmen Kill Three Women in Plateau Mining Site Attack

On Monday, gunmen attacked a mining site in Rakum community, located in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, around 4:30 PM. The assault resulted in the deaths of three women and left another person injured.

Rwang Tengwong, the spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, confirmed the incident, expressing deep concern over the safety of individuals working in the area. Community member John Silas also verified the attack, stating that it was alarming for residents who should be able to conduct their legitimate business without fear.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of violent attacks in Plateau State, particularly in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and Bokkos local government areas, despite a curfew imposed by the state government. Recent reports indicate that six people were killed in Laja village, Mangu, and additional attacks have occurred in various villages, prompting calls for increased security measures.

As of the report's filing, the Plateau State Police Command had not issued a statement regarding the mining site attack.
