Gunmen Kill Two Enugu Cops in Checkpoint Attack

Gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in Enugu, killing two officers from the Enugu State Police Command. The assailants, suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) or its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, opened fire on the police team without provocation.

The police spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident and stated that the police are conducting a manhunt to apprehend the suspects. The State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, has ordered intensified efforts to track down the assailants and bring them to justice.
