Gunmen Kill Herder, Rustle 300 Cattle in Kano Attack

On Wednesday evening, gunmen raided a community in Kano State, resulting in the death of a herder who attempted to resist the attack. The assailants rustled over 300 cattle during the incident, which took place around 6 PM.

Auwal Abdussalam Barau, a councillor from Mainika Ward, reported the attack and expressed concerns about the ongoing danger in the area. Soldiers and local vigilantes mobilized to chase the attackers, successfully rescuing 100 cattle.

This incident is not the first in the region, as there have been previous kidnappings and attacks. Barau urged the state government to consider establishing a military base to help counter further attacks.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed the incident and announced a collaborative operation with the Joint Task Force (JTF) that recovered 67 cattle during a swift operation. CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa stated that credible intelligence led to the engagement of the suspects, who fled the scene after a gun duel.
