Pilgrims Warned Against Excess Luggage for Hajj

Sheikh Haliru Maraya, chairman of the sub-committee for Hajj, has warned pilgrims against carrying excess luggage during outbound flights from Nigeria, specifically at Prince Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah. He advised pilgrims to adhere to airport protocols and emphasized the importance of being good ambassadors for Kaduna State.

Maraya stated that the Kaduna State government, led by Governor Uba Sani, will impose sanctions on pilgrims who violate these rules. He recalled two tragic incidents involving Nigerian pilgrims: a plane crash on January 22, 1973, which resulted in the loss of lives, and another on July 11, 1991, that killed 261 people, including 247 passengers and 14 crew members shortly after takeoff.

The airlift of Kaduna pilgrims back home is scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026, as per a statement issued by Malam Ibraheem Musa Sundai, the chief press secretary to Governor Uba Sani.
