Taraba State Airlifts 716 Pilgrims for 2026 Hajj

The Taraba State Government has organized the airlift of 716 intending pilgrims for the Hajj, set to depart from Jalingo to Saudi Arabia on May 10, 2026. Governor Agbu Kefa emphasized the importance of adhering to the five pillars of Islam and urged pilgrims to maintain good conduct to uphold the image of Taraba State.

During a farewell ceremony, Kefa's Chief of Staff, Arch Moham Al Amin Ibrahim, reiterated the need for pilgrims to avoid contraband items. Notably, the state government did not appoint an Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage.

Alh Hammanadama Tukur, the special adviser on pilgrim affairs, disclosed that 738 individuals had shown interest in performing the Hajj, but 18 failed to complete their payment by the deadline. Additionally, seven visa applications were canceled due to various reasons, including deaths and pregnancy.

The state government aims to ensure a smooth Hajj operation, adhering to national standards.
