Hamzat Promises Decentralized Services for Lagos Residents

Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, has pledged to create a more interconnected Lagos by decentralizing government services and leveraging the unique economic strengths of the state's five divisions: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe (IBILE). In a radio interview in Ikorodu, Hamzat stated that residents should not need to travel to Alausa for services that can be provided locally.

He proposed establishing mini-secretariats in Ikorodu, Badagry, and Epe to resolve 80% of service needs within these divisions. Hamzat identified Ikorodu's potential in agriculture, food processing, and transportation, promising to develop infrastructure to support these sectors.

He also highlighted the necessity of reorganizing local government administration to improve accountability and eliminate inefficiencies. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of planning Lagos as a borderless metropolitan city, considering the needs of residents from neighboring states who rely on Lagos' infrastructure and services.
