Igala Vanguard Challenges Ajaka Over Protest Allegations

The socio-political group Igala Vanguard has issued a challenge to Muritala Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Kogi, to clarify his alleged connection with the organizers of a recent protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja. This challenge arose after Ajaka referred to Igala Vanguard as a “faceless” organization, prompting disappointment from the group, which was previously supportive of his 2023 governorship campaign.

Engr. Lawrence Ankpa, the group's convener, expressed that it was unfortunate for Ajaka to label them in such a manner, especially after they had hosted him in Lagos and contributed financially to his campaign fundraising event. The group accused Ajaka of distancing himself from the protest after it failed to garner political support, particularly in Kogi West, and criticized his political record, claiming he had weakened his leadership claims in Kogi East.

They also alleged that Ajaka betrayed the Igala people's interests by apologizing to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello after contesting against his preferred candidate.
