Fire Outbreak at Murtala Mohammed International Airport

A fire outbreak took place at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, affecting the international wing of terminal 1. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed that emergency response operations are ongoing, with firefighting teams working to fully contain the fire.

The agency reassured the public that no lives have been lost due to the incident. The cause of the fire has been attributed to a faulty socket in the Kenya Airways office located on the third floor of the old terminal.

In response to the emergency, FAAN has activated mutual aid arrangements and called for reinforcements from the Lagos State Government, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, and the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency is also involved in managing the situation.
