Harvard Commends NASENI-Troment Factory for Disease Eradication

Harvard University commended the establishment of the NASENI-Troment Biotechnology factory, which aims to eradicate infectious diseases in Nigeria and Africa. The factory, inaugurated on June 7, 2027, is a multi-million dollar initiative that will produce 100% Nigerian-owned diagnostic brands, including PCR kits and rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs).

Mr. Selim Hani, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of NASENI-Troment Biotechnology, emphasized the factory's goal to strengthen Nigeria's healthcare sovereignty and improve access to affordable diagnostics across the African region.

The factory is designed to manufacture 600 million diagnostic kits annually, addressing major public health diseases such as malaria, hepatitis B and C, HIV, pregnancy, COVID-19 antigen, typhoid, syphilis, and blood glucose testing. Professor Dyann F.

Wirth from Harvard University, a leading malariologist, led a team that toured the factory and expressed admiration for its potential to add value in the fight against malaria. The initiative is part of a broader program running from June 7 to 13, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria, aimed at training global health professionals and policymakers.
