Atiku's Petrol Subsidy Pledge Challenges Tinubu's APC

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has announced his intention to restore petrol subsidies if elected president in 2027, a declaration that has intensified the political landscape ahead of the elections. His statement has drawn criticism towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which has not adjusted petrol prices despite rising crude costs.

The APC's response indicates concern over Atiku's populist appeal during this critical election period, as many voters are struggling with economic difficulties. The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, previously warned voters against politicians promising easy solutions, highlighting the tendency of politicians to cater to voter desires rather than addressing complex issues.
