Haske: Legal team slams EFCC’s declaration of Atiku’s son-in-law ‘wanted’

The legal team representing Abdullahi Bashir Haske, a businessman and son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for declaring Haske wanted. The EFCC accused Haske of criminal conspiracy and money laundering, alleging his involvement in a lucrative contract with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Haske's legal team argued that the EFCC's declaration was illegal, as there is a pending motion in the Federal High Court challenging the validity of the arrest warrant. They emphasized Haske's cooperation with the EFCC and his willingness to abide by their directives.

The legal team accused the EFCC of contempt of court and undermining judicial authority by declaring Haske wanted without proper legal procedures. The EFCC denied any political motives behind the declaration, stating that Haske had been under investigation for years and had jumped bail.
