Health Outreach in Oyo State Reveals Hypertension Cases

A free medical outreach organized for journalists in Oyo State uncovered a significant number of previously undiagnosed hypertension cases, leading health experts to call for regular medical check-ups. The event, held at the Oyo State Correspondents’ Chapel in Ibadan, was a collaboration between the chapel and NIKZAR Medical Centre, providing free medical screenings, consultations, and medications to approximately 50 journalists and residents.

Dr. Jefferson Jide Nwanoka, Senior Medical Officer at NIKZAR Medical Centre, noted that hypertension was the most common condition diagnosed.

He emphasized the importance of routine medical examinations for early illness detection and treatment. The outreach was part of NIKZAR Medical Centre’s corporate social responsibility program, aimed at supporting the Oyo State Correspondents’ Chapel.

Participants received appropriate medications, and those needing further assessment were referred to hospitals. The initiative was praised by beneficiaries and officials, including Yinka Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Correspondents’ Chapel, who expressed gratitude to NIKZAR Medical Centre and the organizing committee for their support.
