Free Health Screening for 400 Residents in Lagos

Nearly 400 residents of Lagos benefited from a two-day medical outreach organized by General Hospital, Somolu, in collaboration with several government agencies and healthcare charities. The initiative, which transitioned from the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, aimed at early detection of common health conditions and providing preventive services without cost barriers.

During the outreach, beneficiaries were screened for hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, prostate cancer, and malaria, and received mental health screenings, counseling, and necessary medications. Nathaniel Oja, Deputy Medical Director of General Hospital, Somolu, emphasized the significance of the initiative, highlighting the free healthcare services provided.

Adebayo Akintobi from the Global Health Charity and Training Foundation encouraged participants to engage openly with medical personnel. The outreach also aimed to connect beneficiaries with ongoing healthcare services, urging those needing further treatment to return to the hospital for follow-up care.
