Ultimate Health HMO's Ewenla Advocates Health Insurance Benefits

Otunba Lekan Ewenla, the Managing Director of Ultimate Health Management Services, emphasized the importance of health insurance in preventing sudden deaths in Nigeria during an interview in Lagos. He stated that preventive healthcare is a core aspect of health insurance, encouraging Nigerians to seek healthcare proactively rather than waiting until they are ill.

Ewenla called for the National Health Insurance Authority to launch a strategic media campaign to raise awareness about the benefits of health insurance. He referenced a circular issued by the Secretary to the Federal Government on 4th September 2025, which introduced sanctions for non-compliance with mandatory health insurance enrollment.

Ewenla highlighted the need for public education on the benefits and implications of non-compliance. He also mentioned that Ultimate Health HMO has adopted a robust benefit package for informal sector workers, making health insurance more accessible and affordable.

He urged Nigerians to move away from out-of-pocket medical payments and embrace health insurance for better healthcare access.
