Governor Mutfwang Urges Churches to Tackle Youth Crisis

On May 3, 2026, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang called on churches to play a critical role in addressing the moral crisis facing youth in the state. Speaking during a Sunday service at the ECWA headquarters, he highlighted the urgent need for a renewed focus on values and stronger engagement with younger generations.

Mutfwang acknowledged the security challenges, particularly in the Mangu Local Government Area, but stressed that the state also faces deeper social development issues requiring collective action. He expressed sympathy for victims of recent violence and urged church leaders to combat the growing disconnect between the church and youth.

The governor warned against the rising involvement of youth in violence and drug abuse, advocating for mentorship and rehabilitation programs. He also raised concerns about child trafficking and exploitation, calling for stronger collaboration among communities, faith-based organizations, and security agencies to protect vulnerable children.
