MACBAN Condemns Killing of Herder in Plateau State

On the morning of 27th October 2027, Umar Adamu Jagar was ambushed and shot dead while traveling from Lamor to Gotkum in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State at approximately 9:30 a.m. Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the State chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), confirmed the incident and condemned the killing, describing it as unacceptable.

MACBAN expressed condolences to Jagar's family and the Fulani community, emphasizing that he was attacked without provocation. The association raised concerns about the ongoing violence against Fulani herders and travelers in Plateau State, which threatens peace and stability.

Babayo urged security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and military, to conduct a thorough investigation to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. He also called on Fulani communities to remain calm and avoid retaliation while allowing security agencies to fulfill their responsibilities.

Captain Polycarp Auta, spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace, did not respond to inquiries regarding the incident.
