Gunmen Kill Two Herders in Plateau State Attack

On Sunday evening, two individuals were killed and six others injured when gunmen attacked Fulani herders traveling in a pickup vehicle near Tota Filling Station at Yelwa Club Junction in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident took place around 5:30 pm as the victims were returning from the Kara Bukuru Livestock Market to Bassa Local Government Area.
Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), confirmed the attack and condemned it as unprovoked. He reported that the injured were taken to the hospital, and one person remains missing.
This attack follows a similar incident on September 20, 2026, where five herders were killed near Kassa in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. MACBAN expressed deep concern over the recurrence of such violence against herders and urged security agencies to enhance protection along the market route.
The association called for calm among its members and emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence.
