Herdsmen Raid Benue Community, Kidnap Women, and Burn Market

Suspected armed herdsmen attacked Anwas Market in Mbaikyor Kwand Local Government Area of Benue State on a Friday afternoon. The attackers kidnapped several market women and set the market ablaze, causing panic in the community.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants whisked the victims away towards a nearby mountain area before security agencies arrived at the scene. The market was already engulfed in flames by the time residents and organized responders attempted to escape the attack.

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed receiving several calls and messages about the incident but stated that their response was unsuccessful.
