Over 16 Killed in Benue Market Attack by Suspected Armed Herdsmen

In Benue State, Nigeria, over 16 people were killed in a terrorist attack carried out by suspected armed herdsmen in the Mbaikyor Ward of Turan Kwand Local Government Area. The attackers stormed a market, killed civilians, looted shops, and set parts of the market ablaze.

The former supervisory councillor of Kwand LGA, Lawrence Akerigba, reported that the assailants made away with millions of naira before setting the market on fire. The Nigerian Police Force confirmed the attack and deployed personnel to restore order.

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia condemned the attack, expressing condolences to the victims' families and assuring the public of justice for the perpetrators. The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges and terrorism threats faced by communities in the region.
