Armed Herdsmen Attack Benue Community, One Dead

On February 22, armed herdsmen invaded Edikwu Icho village in the Apa Local Government Area of Benue, resulting in the death of at least one individual, identified as a resident named Olojo Ojantel. The attack occurred around 1:45 PM when the assailants opened fire sporadically, leading to widespread panic among the villagers.

A tactical unit of the military quickly confronted the attackers, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes. Following the incident, the body of the deceased was taken to a local mortuary.

In response to the violence, military authorities deployed aerial surveillance to comb the area in an effort to locate and apprehend the fleeing assailants. This incident adds to the growing fear within the community, particularly in light of recent violent outbreaks in the region.
