Katsina State Reports Significant Decline in HIV Prevalence

The Katsina State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA) has reported a significant decline in HIV prevalence, particularly among pregnant women and children. Dr Nuhu Bala Kankia, the Executive Secretary of SACA, announced this during a dissemination meeting for the Katsina State HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan (2025–2027).

He noted that the decline is due to increased government support, public awareness, and improved access to prevention and treatment services. Kankia credited the Katsina State Government, led by Governor Dikko Umar Radda, and various development partners for their contributions.

The strategic plan aims to consolidate achievements and address emerging challenges in the fight against HIV/AIDS over the next two years. Dr Temitope Ilori, Director-General of NACA, praised the progress and emphasized the importance of the new strategic plan for enhancing the state's HIV response.

The meeting included officials from SACA, NACA, the Katsina State Ministry of Health, and representatives from development partners.
