Nathan Chasing Horse Sentenced to Life for Sex Crimes

Nathan Chasing Horse, a 49-year-old actor recognized for his role in the Oscar-winning film "Dances with Wolves," was sentenced to life in prison by Nevada Judge Jessica Peterson following a jury verdict in January that found him guilty on 13 of 21 charges. His crimes spanned nearly two decades and included sexual assault, child abuse, neglect, and sex trafficking.

Chasing Horse was arrested in 2023 during a SWAT operation and subsequently booked into Clark County Jail. Prosecutor Bianca Pucci stated that he exploited Indigenous women and girls, manipulating them under the guise of spiritual instruction.

Victim Corena Leon Lacroix, who was abused at 14, testified about the long-term impact of his actions, stating that her childhood was taken from her. The court heard testimonies from multiple survivors detailing the abuse.

Chasing Horse will be eligible for parole after serving 37 years.
