Iran's IRGC Captures Second US Underwater Drone

On September 27, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval Forces of Iran announced the capture of a second US unmanned underwater vehicle, identified as a Remus 600, in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC accused the drone of conducting espionage operations in the strategic waterway.

They stated that the interception was achieved through a “coordinated and complex operation” that involved military intelligence and electronic warfare. The IRGC has taken possession of the Remus 600, intending to analyze the system and retrieve any stored information.

Additionally, the IRGC declared that the Strait of Hormuz is closed, issuing warnings against what they termed dangerous and unauthorized maritime movements. This announcement follows a previous claim made less than three weeks earlier regarding the capture of another US underwater drone, the Dive-LD, which the US military acknowledged losing due to a malfunction prior to its recovery by Iranian forces.
