House of Representatives Investigates Airport Concessions

The House of Representatives has initiated a probe into the performance of concessionaires operating Nigeria's airports and terminals, pledging transparency and accountability. The investigation, led by Hon.

Davidson Akinlayo, chairman of the ad hoc committee, aims to assess the performance of these concessionaires and determine the value for money over the past two decades. The committee's mandate includes identifying gaps to ensure that the intended objectives of the concessions are met in a transparent and accountable manner.

Stakeholders are expected to fully cooperate and present their cases candidly. During the investigation, Lukeman Olaruwanju, the Executive Director of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), disclosed significant investments made in terminal operations, equipment, and infrastructure.

This inquiry marks a critical phase in the committee's assignment, focusing on the roles of terminal operators central to the concession regime introduced nearly two decades ago.
