Reps Committee Warns MDAs Against Probe Obstruction

The ad hoc committee of the House of Representatives has issued a warning to various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) regarding their attempts to obstruct its investigation into the benefits accruing to the federal government from port concessions. The committee, chaired by Kolawole Akinlayo, expressed displeasure over the refusal of government agencies to honor invitations and provide essential documents needed for the investigation.

The committee highlighted that it may be compelled to invoke relevant sections of the Nigerian Constitution to ensure compliance from the agencies. This warning serves as a final notice to the chief executive officers of the agencies, which include the Nigerian Port Authority, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), and Julius Berger PLC, to change their attitudes towards the committee's activities.
