Nigerian House of Representatives to Prioritize Electoral Bill, Constitution Review, and 2026 Budget, Mourns Senators' Deaths

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, revealed the legislative priorities of the House, focusing on the Electoral Amendment Bill, Constitution Review, and the 2026 Budget during a plenary session in Abuja.

Kalu emphasized the importance of these initiatives for effective governance and national development. He assured thorough scrutiny of the 2026 Budget to ensure it serves as a functional tool for the government.

Additionally, the House observed a valedictory session to mourn the passing of three senators: Sen. Godiya Akwashiki from Nasarawa North (2019-2023), Sen.

Okechukwu Ezea from Enugu North (2023-2025), and Sen. John Kojo Brambaifa from Bayelsa West (2003-2007).

The legislative activities were temporarily halted to honor the deceased senators, with a plan to resume full legislative activities the following day.
