Minister Urges Female Architects to Enhance Competence

Engr Muttaqha Rabe Darma, PhD, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, addressed the Female Architects of Nigeria (FAN) during a courtesy visit led by Chairperson Arc. Ene Agada in Abuja. He urged the association to uphold professional competence to achieve greater heights in their duties, stating that inclusion should be based on competence rather than gender.

Darma encouraged FAN to submit a formal proposal for initiatives aimed at increasing women's participation in the built environment. He noted the presence of female architects in senior roles within the Ministry, contributing significantly to its mandate.

The Minister called for actionable follow-ups to ensure tangible outcomes from their discussions. Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary, remarked on the timely nature of the visit, coinciding with the inauguration of a committee to reform the housing sector.

Arc. Ene Agada expressed the association's commitment to collaboration and proposed joint development of affordable housing for vulnerable groups.
