Etihad Suspends Saudi Flights Until November Due to Attacks

Etihad Airways has announced an extension of its suspension of flights to Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia until November 5, following a series of Houthi strikes. The airline had initially suspended its services to Riyadh on October 12, just two days after a deadly attack on a passenger terminal that resulted in the deaths of 13 people.
In a statement released on Thursday, Etihad cited “operational disruptions” as the reason for the continued suspension of flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam. On the evening prior, an attack on Dammam airport led to the deaths of two individuals and injuries to eight others.
Although Dammam airport reopened the following day, the airport in Riyadh remains closed. Etihad also announced that it would only operate daytime flights to Jeddah, with all night flights canceled until November 5.
The recent Houthi attacks on Saudi civilian infrastructure, including oil facilities and airports, have escalated significantly since the onset of the Yemen conflict in 2014.
