Nigerian Aviation Industry Criticized for Lack of Airport Insurance Coverage

The founder of Overland Airways, Edward Boyo, publicly criticized the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for inadequate insurance coverage for airports, highlighting the risks of aircraft damage and financial burdens on airlines. FAAN's management director, Olubunmi Kuku, refuted Boyo's claims, stating that airports are adequately insured.

However, insurance experts clarified that individual companies are responsible for insuring their own equipment against damages. Sunni Ateba, an airline insurance expert, emphasized the importance of companies having their own insurance coverage.
