How Buhari stopped Obasanjo’s third term agenda, one-party state – Okechukwu

Osita Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed that late former President Muhammadu Buhari played a crucial role in stopping former President Olusegun Obasanjo's third term agenda and preventing a one-party state in Nigeria. Okechukwu stated that Buhari held strategic meetings with National Assembly members to ensure they did not support the third term plot.

He emphasized that Buhari's actions were instrumental in upholding democracy and preventing the country from sliding into authoritarianism. Okechukwu highlighted Buhari's opposition to the third term agenda in the mid-2000s and commended his efforts in garnering support from Nigerians to thwart the plot.

Despite alleged financial inducements to lawmakers, Buhari's leadership and strategic approach ultimately prevented the institutionalization of a one-party state.
