CBAAC and Ogidi Studios Launch ECD Coalition in Nigeria

The Creative Industry Coalition for Early Childhood Development (ECD) was formally launched by the Centre for Black African Art and Civilisation (CBAAC) and Ogidi Studios in Lekki, Nigeria. The initiative, supported by the World Bank, aims to mobilize the creative industry to enhance ECD through positive storytelling.

Key stakeholders, including Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, and Tourism, and Fadekemi Olumide Aluko, an actress and educationist, participated in the event. Aisha Adamu Augi, the Director General of CBAAC, highlighted the urgent need for improved ECD in Nigeria, citing alarming statistics: 40% of children are stunted, and only 37% attend early childhood programs.

The coalition seeks to leverage Nigeria's rich cultural heritage to embed storytelling in early education, addressing the significant challenges faced by the nation as it approaches a projected population of 375 million by 2050.
