EFCC Prevents Use of Fake Transmission Lines in Power Project

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), led by Chairman Ola Olukoyede, intervened in a power project to stop a contractor from using fake and substandard transmission lines. This revelation was made during a courtesy visit by Olusegun Adesayo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

The EFCC's investigation uncovered that the contractor had already been mobilized by the Ministry of Power. Following this discovery, the EFCC recommended that the contractor be blacklisted to prevent serious national consequences.

Olukoyede emphasized that the use of substandard transmission lines could endanger lives and property across the country. The EFCC's intervention was crucial in safeguarding critical power infrastructure.

He assured the NEMSA delegation of the EFCC's readiness to collaborate and strengthen compliance within the electricity sector to improve Nigeria's electricity supply.
