The Gates Foundation and Hetero Labs have collaborated to produce a generic version of lenacapavir, the world's first injectable HIV prevention drug. This breakthrough aims to reduce costs and improve access to HIV prevention, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

Lenacapavir offers a significant advancement in HIV prevention, requiring only two injections per year compared to daily oral medication. The partnership is expected to lower the annual cost per patient to around $40, making it more accessible to those in need.
