NBRDA Partners for Local Production of HIV Drugs in Nigeria

The National Biotechnology Research Development Agency (NBRDA) in Nigeria is collaborating with La Shipson Pharmaceuticals Ltd to begin local production of HIV drugs in the country. This move follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations to enhance Nigeria's capacity for local medicine production.

The project, set to commence in the first quarter of 2026, aims to address the healthcare gap created by the withdrawal of international aid for HIV treatment. The collaboration is expected to not only improve access to affordable drugs but also create job opportunities, drive technology transfer, and upgrade the NBRDA laboratory's research capabilities.
