Retired General Rabe and Wife Abducted in Katsina

On Saturday, a retired Major General Rabe and his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, were ambushed and abducted in Katsina while traveling along the Karaduwa Matazu Road. The incident occurred around 11:00 AM when armed men, believed to be bandits, blocked the road, opened fire on their red Peugeot 406 saloon car, forcing it to halt.

The driver, Abdullahi Sa Idu, sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm during the attack but was later spared by the gunmen. Following the ambush, the gunmen took General Rabe and his wife into a nearby forest.

The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the incident and stated that security operations have intensified to rescue the victims unharmed and bring the perpetrators to justice. Local government authorities expressed growing concern over insecurity along major rural roads in the area.

The attack has raised fears due to the alleged connection of the abductors to a known bandit leader, Muhammadu Fulani, although recent security operations have reportedly diminished his activity in the region.
