Peter Obi Reveals Cost-Saving Measures as Anambra Governor

Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), disclosed strategies he employed to save costs during his tenure as governor of Anambra State. In a statement made on Monday, Obi explained that he avoided unnecessary expenditures and traveled with a minimal entourage, which is atypical for public officials.

He provided specific examples of his cost-saving measures, stating that the budget for refurbishing his office was ₦298 million, but he completed the work for ₦48 million. Similarly, he noted that a budget of ₦486 million for refurbishing his official residence was finished for ₦81 million.

Obi also mentioned that he did not utilize 16 percent of his travel allowance over the years because he often traveled alone, contrary to the usual practice of traveling with a large group. He emphasized the importance of directing Nigeria's limited resources toward productive sectors to enhance citizens' living conditions.
