Oyo Trafficking Suspect Confesses to Selling Children

Adejoke Popoola, a suspected member of a child trafficking syndicate, confessed to selling two sets of her own children and stealing others for resale. Speaking at the Oyo State Police Command headquarters in Ibadan, she revealed her involvement in these activities since October 2024.

Popoola claimed to have sold a newborn boy and twins for N300,000 to a clinic in Ogeere, which she alleged resells the children. She described her method of stealing children, including disguising herself as someone looking to rent a house or posing as a spiritualist to target parents of disabled children.

Popoola recounted stealing a three-year-old boy, Ifakunle Ifagbenro, during an Egungun festival by pretending to help his mother. She admitted that six out of the 19 children she allegedly kidnapped have died.

Popoola has seven children of her own, with the youngest being six years old and the eldest 34.
