NSCDC Rescues 15 Children from Human Trafficker in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reported that a suspected member of a human trafficking syndicate kidnapped 15 minors in Nasarawa State, selling them for N30 million. The suspect posed as an official of the National Council of Child Rights Advocates, deceiving parents into handing over their children by promising free education through a non-governmental organization and orphanage program called the Back to School Project.

Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, stated that the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, led by Commander Dandaura Appollos, conducted a rescue operation. Of the 16 children trafficked from Kama Madaki and Gudindi Mada communities in the Kokona Local Government Area, 15 were rescued from their alleged buyers across various locations in the country.

Three suspected buyers, including one man and two women, were arrested. The NSCDC maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards human trafficking and will prosecute those found culpable after investigations.
