NUPENG Deputy President Testifies Against Ex-Official

Olujid Kilanko, the Deputy President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), testified in the FCT High Court on November 1, 2023, regarding an alleged attack led by former Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union chairman Lucki Osesua. Kilanko claimed that Osesua and 20 others ambushed him and other union leaders at the NUPENG secretariat in Abuja.

The defendants are facing five counts, including attempted murder and breach of peace. During the attack, Kilanko described how he was assaulted with stones and sticks, leading to unconsciousness and requiring hospitalization.

He recounted the events of the ambush, detailing how he and his colleagues were blocked from entering the premises and subsequently attacked. The defendants, including Osesua, have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The case is being presided over by Justice Yusuf Halilu, and the prosecution is represented by counsel David Kasw.
