Thugs Attack Ex-NUJ Vice Chairman in Ebonyi State

Comrade Benjamin Nwori, the former vice chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ebonyi State, was reportedly attacked by three men described as thugs in the early hours of Monday. The incident occurred at Nwori's residence in Ugwuechara, Abakaliki, and is alleged to be connected to Mr.

Peac Agwu, the chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area. According to Nwori, the confrontation began when the assailants questioned the removal of bamboo materials placed near his gate, which they claimed obstructed access.

The situation escalated into violence, with Nwori being dragged and beaten multiple times, receiving threats to his life and that of his family. Neighbors intervened to prevent further harm.

Nwori has faced ongoing challenges related to construction debris near his residence, which has hindered access for several months. In response to the allegations, Mr.

Peac Agwu denied any involvement, labeling the claims as false and asserting that he did not send anyone to attack Nwori.
