Redesigning Waiting Areas: Enhancing Healthcare Experience

Experts have stated that the arrangement of lighting and furniture can significantly alter the experience of waiting areas in health facilities. Micah Oluwadare, the Managing Director of BuckeyeInterior Limited, undertook the redesign of the waiting area at Beachland Specialist Hospital located in Arepo, Ogun State.

His approach involved careful consideration of seating, circulation, and visibility to enhance the experience for patients and visitors. The project focused on optimizing existing interiors by adjusting furniture placement, lighting, materials, and finishes to define areas within the waiting room while ensuring unobstructed movement.

Oluwadare emphasized that the design must respond to the needs of the users and the functional requirements of the space. The project illustrates the importance of balancing practical needs with the overall experience in healthcare environments, highlighting how thoughtful design can improve the functionality and perception of waiting areas.
