Optimus Bank Launches Blood Drive to Aid Healthcare Needs

Optimus Bank has initiated a blood drive in Lagos to support critical healthcare needs and address Nigeria's blood supply gap. The initiative, themed “GIVE BLOOD.

GIVE LIFE,” is part of the bank's corporate social responsibility platform, Impact Starts With Us. It mobilizes employees, stakeholders, and community members to contribute to life-saving blood donations.

According to the World Health Organisation, Nigeria requires 1.8 to 2 million units of blood annually, yet only 371,827 units were collected in 2024. Dr Ademola Odeyemi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Optimus Bank, stated that the bank's responsibility extends beyond banking, emphasizing the connection between economic strength and community wellbeing.

Morolake Philip-Ladipo, Head of Corporate Communications at Optimus Bank, highlighted the initiative's focus on helping individuals in urgent need of care. The blood drive is part of the bank's broader commitment to responsible corporate citizenship, supporting initiatives in healthcare, education, empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
