Banky W Transitions to Pastoral Ministry After Election Loss

Bankole Wellington, known as Banky W, shared that his defeat in the 2023 House of Representatives election prompted him to seek divine direction, ultimately leading him to pastoral ministry in the United States. In an Instagram post marking his first anniversary in this role, he expressed that the election loss was heartbreaking but also a catalyst for reflection on how his interests in politics, entertainment, business, and ministry could coexist.

He surrendered his plans to God, realizing that he had been treating these aspects of his life as mutually exclusive. Banky W continues to work as a filmmaker, musician, and entrepreneur while serving as a pastor and professor.

He travels frequently between Lagos and the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to fulfill his responsibilities. Reflecting on the past year, he acknowledged that the election result did not align with his hopes, but he recognized that God's plans for his life are greater than his own.
