Oge Elumelu's Podcast Creates Job Opportunities for Youth

Oge Elumelu inaugurated the first Africa Everywhere festival on July 4, 2026, in Victoria Island, Nigeria, transforming her podcast into a recruitment pipeline for young Africans. The initiative, which began in September 2024, attracted 7,000 applications for its first internship cohort.

Elumelu emphasized the need for practical industry insights to combat Nigeria's unemployment challenges, which, despite official figures suggesting a rate below five percent, mask the true state of the labor market. The festival featured a career fair with 15 organizations participating, resulting in 37 successful placements.

Elumelu's project aims to provide mentorship and networking opportunities, even for those who do not secure formal placements. Notable speakers included Toni Elumelu, who discussed financial literacy and self-education, and other industry experts who shared practical guidance on managing finances and building long-term security.

The festival's impact extends beyond recruitment, fostering a community of support and knowledge sharing among young professionals.
