Ojulari's Vision for NNPC: Transforming Nigeria's Energy Sector

During the 25th Nigerian Oil and Gas Energy Week held in Abuja on July 7, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), delivered a keynote address focusing on the company's strategies for Africa's energy transformation. Ojulari highlighted Nigeria's position as Africa's largest crude producer, holding approximately 17% of the world's proven gas reserves, while acknowledging significant challenges such as oil theft and inadequate infrastructure.

He discussed the Petroleum Industry Act of 2021, which aims to convert NNPC into a commercially viable entity. Ojulari's vision includes a disciplined approach to commercial operations, targeting a crude output of 2 million barrels per day by 2027 and 3 million by 2030.

He also mentioned the completion of the Trans Niger Pipeline and the signing of gas sale agreements to boost domestic industrial use, including a deal with Dangote Refinery, representing a $20 billion investment.
