Bolaji Abdullahi Reveals Impact of Saraki's Defection on His Exit from Jonathan's Government

Bolaji Abdullahi, a former Minister of Youth Development and Sports in Nigeria, disclosed in his memoir how Senate President Bukola Saraki's defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) resulted in his removal from President Goodluck Jonathan's government. Abdullahi, who was appointed to the Federal Executive Council without a prior personal relationship with Jonathan, detailed his political journey spanning two decades in Nigerian politics.

He highlighted the impact of political loyalty on his career, noting his appointment shortly after completing his tenure in the Kwara State Education Commission. Abdullahi's association with Saraki, serving as his Special Assistant and later Commissioner, played a significant role in his political trajectory.

Following Saraki's defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, Abdullahi faced a moral dilemma between loyalty to Jonathan and allegiance to Saraki, ultimately leading to his dismissal in March 2014.
