Abdullahi Explains Dismissal as Minister Over Loyalty to Saraki

Bolaji Abdullahi, the former Minister of Sports appointed by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, disclosed that his loyalty to Bukola Saraki, a key figure in Kwara State politics, resulted in his removal in March 2014. Abdullahi, representing Kwara State in the Federal Executive Council, transitioned from Minister of Youth Development to Minister of Sports.

His refusal to attack Saraki during the latter's campaign in Kwara State, especially after Saraki defected from the People's Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, led to his dismissal. Abdullahi highlighted the pressure he faced due to his allegiance to Saraki amidst public criticism.

Despite the circumstances, he expressed no regrets about serving in Jonathan's government. Abdullahi had previously served as Special Assistant on Communication and Special Adviser on Policy to Saraki during his tenure as Governor of Kwara State.

Abdullahi plans to document his public service journey, including his mentorship under Saraki and the eventual breakdown of their political alignment.
