Nigeria Customs Service Hires 3,852 from 573,680 Applicants

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, announced the employment of 3,852 candidates from a total of 573,680 applicants during the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise. This announcement was made at the NCS headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

The recruitment process, which began in December 2024, was marked by high competition, with only 0.67% of applicants making the final selection. Each of the 36 states received 105 candidates, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) contributed 72 candidates to the total.

The successful candidates were categorized into three entry cadres: 1,275 for the Superintendent Cadre, 367 for the Inspectorate Cadre, and 2,210 for the Customs Assistant Cadre. The recruitment exercise lasted 20 months, concluding in August 2026, and faced delays due to the volume of applications and the need for a transparent selection process.

Adeniyi emphasized the importance of this recruitment in strengthening the service's manpower amid ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
